What is LBS CARES?
LBS CARES is our internal volunteer program where our employees receive paid hours to volunteer at select groups and events within the community. We also let our employees take the lead on getting us involved with organizations that they care about near our local branches.
Over the years, we’ve partnered with groups like the Assistance League of Long Beach, the Long Beach Rescue Mission, The Alzheimer’s Family Center, the ABC Education Foundation, Patriots & Paws, and more to help with events or projects.
LBS Financial also participates in Long Beach’s Adopt-a-Beach program and our employees, friends, and family have been cleaning up the coastline between 14th Place and 19th Place off of Ocean Boulevard for nearly a decade.
Adopting our Local Schools
As part of our annual Adopt-a-School Program, LBS Financial works directly with three local school districts to make a difference in the coming school year. We work with Long Beach Unified School District, Bellflower Unified School District, and ABC Unified School District to select three schools each year to adopt. The Credit Union encourages school supply collections from our Members during the summer to supplement the thousands of school supplies and special wish list items we purchase and provide to each school in September.
Scholarships for Local Students
Each year, LBS Financial provides over $20,000 in scholarships to local students. The Credit Union has been working with high schools and colleges to provide scholarships to 38 students each year, through the school counselors. In April each year, the Credit Union also accepts applications from Members for two $1,000 scholarships.
